Dewsbury fans since the 1920s, the Child brothers have seen most of what there is to see in Rugby League: the 1954 Challenge Cup final at Odsal with its record 102,000 spectators, Billy ‘Plonk’ Rhodes and the last ever field goal, all 18 stone of Frank Whitcombe and the Maori with a famous Uncle who once performed the perfect dummy. Amongst the stories is the enthusiasm and love for the sport which comes from over 80 years of following the game. Fittingly, the interview was conducted in the bar at the famous George Hotel, surrounded by photos of games they’ve seen and players they’ve watched.
